As an up-and-coming producer, songwriter and musician, Peter Rogers has already scored major production credits on Keyshia Cole’s GRAMMY® nominated single “Let it Go” featuring Missy Elliott and Lil’ Kim from the certified RIAA platinum CD, JUST LIKE YOU. He also worked on Fantasia’s “Two Weeks Notice” from her certified RIAA gold sophomore release and GRAMMY award-winning self-titled CD. As a keyboard player on both projects, Rogers worked closely with Elliott on the creation of both songs, which have received major radio airplay and critical acclaim worldwide.
A native of Queens, New York, Rogers plays three instruments: piano, drums and guitar. He is currently in demand as a top session musician and has recorded on numerous projects with major label artists including Keyshia Cole, Missy Elliott, Fantasia, and Carl Thomas, as well as numerous independent artists and projects. He has performed and made special appearances with Angie Stone, Carl Thomas, Rasheem Devaughn, and Trin-i-tee 5:7, among many others, at venues across the country and abroad.
Rogers began developing his musical talent at a young age. He was playing the drums at age seven, followed by the guitar at age 12. He discovered his true love for the piano by age 14. Although he was musically gifted and could play music by ear at an early age, his parents enrolled him in a local music school where he took piano and guitar lessons weekly and learn to read music. During that time, he continued to hone his talent and develop his craft by playing regularly at church and school. At age 16, his mother brought him his first Yamaha Synthesizer workstation, and that’s when he began to develop his passion for producing.
Rogers’ musical influences include Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Herbie Hancock and Earth, Wind and Fire, which is demonstrated in the depth and diversity of his own style and brand of today’s contemporary sound. “Music is a universal language and it’s the one thing that brings people together,” says Rogers. “Like my heroes, I would like to make music that touches and changes people’s lives.
Under the recently formed production company, Prince Maestro LLC, Rogers and his diverse team of songwriters and musicians are creating projects for various music genres including R&B, hip-hip, gospel, pop and rock. They are also doing production work for television, movies, commercials, webisodes and other Internet-based media projects.
