Jameel Shakir Gray was born in Mobile, Alabama and the fifth son to Frank and Golden Gray. Inheriting my gift and love for music from my father, I started singing at about 12 years old. Growing up in Mobile proved to be a test of my character, will and spirituality. It seemed that there were only two options available; music or the streets. With the encouragement and support of my parents, I chose music. My father was born and raised in New Jersey where he pursued his musical career and was blessed to have the opportunity to play with many successful bands. He showed me that through music I could touch the very soul of a person and my passion for music and people would not only satisfy the listener but my need to fulfill a dream. I have been privileged to open up for several big name acts including, Musiq Soulchild, Lil John, Jagged Edge, and Lil Zane just to name a few. There opportunities have helped me become more focused on my career and have influenced me to continue to be encouraged while I diligently search for that right person to hear my music and produce it as next "wave" of music. I was recently selected to join Slip N Slide's "On Da Grind" and be apart of the hottest label in the game. It's not official yet but hopefully if O. Vakseen Davis III likes it, then the sky is definitely the limit.
